Next week, Dava Sobel will be on campus and will be having a variety of events that you can all attend! You can learn more about this science writer at http://www.davasobel.com/.
Below is a schedule of events. Note that for the Monday lunch you will need to RSVP to me by 5pm on Thursday.
January 12 (Monday) noon-1pm: Lunch at the UW Club. This is a free lunch with Dava Sobel and people from Astronomy and Earth and Space Sciences. There are approximately 5 seats available to the first people that respond. Please RSVP to me by 5pm on Thursday if you are interested.
January 13 (Tuesday) 6:30pm: Public lecture in Kane 130. Dava Sobel will give a talk on "Galileo and the International Year of Astronomy". Seating is first come, first served.
January 14 (Wednesday) 12:30: Astro lunch in Phys/Astr C520. Dava Sobel will give a more intimate talk to our department. Seating is fairly limited, so please arrive early.
January 14 (Wednesday) 2:30-4pm: Student meet and greet in Phys/Astr C341. Dava Sobel would like to be available to meet with undergrad and grad students during this time. You can ask questions about what life is like as a science writer or how she entered this career. Light refreshments will be served.
Let me know if you have any questions about these events. I hope you can attend!
Thanks,
Sarah
